Workplace Bullying

Introduction

The news appearing occasionally in the press about people being harassed occupationally not a reliable indicator of the extent of the problem, although the importance it is beginning to show in court and Spanish institutions.

Workplace bullying does not directly refer to the persecution of a sexual nature, although it would include. It refers specifically to the action of a person or persons of a corporation, partnership or institution directed against a co-worker in order to get out of office, undermine his self-esteem or raise the stalkers. We can summarize it as psychological abuse in the workplace, repeated and for a specific purpose.

It is generally believed that bullying is an issue of acts or verbal comments that could harm "psychologically" to a person or to isolate workplace. Sometimes, however, it may take a physical. Generally found a repetition of incidents or a pattern of behavior intended to intimidate, offend, degrade or humiliate a person or a group of individuals. This phenomenon is also described as the assertion of power through aggression (Einarsen, 2011).

The Reasons

The reasons that led some people to exercise the kind of harassment and demolition of others are several, though not as many as there are individual motivations. The main, it sounds surprising to some, is envy. Envy and jealousy understood the success of the intended victim.

Young professionals and skilled workers are people with higher qualifications than their peers, every object of envy of stalkers. Cases like envy aroused by youth and "good guy" of a worker or fifteen minutes of commuting to another, while the stalkers were clearly less attractive than the beleaguered and took over an hour to get from their homes, may provide some insight into the reasons as diverse, but a common denominator, that motivate exercise these abhorrent behaviors.

Attitudes "no partner" of the newcomers, as a professional soldier who refused to obey "orders" of the superior, can also cause to enter the crosshairs of someone who threatened to break the status quo of unfair privileges.

Although harassment may seem an action exerted from the top to the feeder, our experience is that it can occur in any direction: top to bottom, bottom to top and peer. It depends on the personality of the bullied, the bully's, their number, and the circumstances and work environment (Oade, 2009).
