ABSTRACT

In this study we try to explore the concept of workplace diversity in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on workplace diversity and its relation with positive and negative aspects. The research did in-depth study to reach to meaningful conclusion. Secondary research was used in this research to answer the research questions what is diversity? How diversity can be managed in an organization? What are the positive and negative aspects of workplace diversity?

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Background

Diversity of state gives “needs of client and client based on competitive analysis." The most obvious benefit of diverse workforce is that it represents local face to customer. Operate successfully in national market requires workforce that speaks local language, understand traditions and norms of behavior, and interact effectively with customers, public officials and other stakeholders. Despite of so much research and studied on workplace diversity, the relation between internationalization, development and workforce diversity is still a question mark.

Problem statement

Due to internationalization, lots of barriers are faced by business. To sustain in the international market, business must be capable to overcome these challenges. Workforce diversity is very important for these challenges. Organizations that operate internationally must develop skills to navigate complex cultural environments. For managers of people to grow culturally aware that you must first perform an analysis of yourself and be honest with yourself, to determine viability of their leadership skills and ability to be firm but fair. Because managers may have personal blind spots, it would be beneficial for organizations to conduct class on leadership characteristics and qualities for potential managers, as would implementation of company, declaration of official administrative mission.

Significance

This research is very important as it will fill out gaps in the existing literature and open new horizons for future research.

Research question

This research aims to answer the following question

What is diversity?

How diversity can be managed in an organization?

What are the positive and negative aspects of workplace diversity?

CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW

Definition of Workplace Diversity

The term workplace diversity, in the most general sense, refers to the various demographic differences that comprise the employees of an organization (Korac- Kakabadse et al., 1998). Diversity can refer to a number of demographic components, which typically include factors such as race, gender, age, and physical and mental ability.
