Introduction

The system of Criminal Justice consists of the practices and institutions of governments directed at upholding social control and mitigating crime. This system sanctions those who violate laws with criminal penalties and efforts of rehabilitation. The victims of crime have protections against abuse of investigatory and powers of prosecution. The system is accountable to protect the people and their rights with the laws and operate against those who violate these laws.

This paper is focused to analyze the issues in the criminal justice system. For this essay the issue which is analyzed in criminal justice system is child abuse (Giovannoni, 1979). This is an enormous issue in the criminal justice system in United States where children suffer abuse everyday and this issue is increasing with the passing time. Most of the children who become victims of abuse include 18 months or younger. Moreover, as of 2010, the number of children in US who died because of abuse or neglect are 1537 where the number of children who died because of neglect or abuse include 79.4% of the children which were younger than four years of age and 47.7% were younger than a year. Apart from these figures the male victims of abuse are nearly the same as female where the percentage for female child abuse is recorded 51.2% and males 48.5%. Therefore, the criminal justice system continuously faces the complaints of sexual abuse into a system (Brodowski, 2011).

The prevention of the child abuse and neglect has fallen under the health purview and agencies of social service. Although, for the criminal justice systems child abuse prevention and its violation has been a priority but still there is lapse in overcoming this issue. It has been a formidable challenge for all the segments of the society to reduce the child abuse and neglect for the safety and well-being of American communities. The people who commit the violence of child abuse are mostly the youth which are traced to abuse and neglect they suffered earlier. There is the link between the maltreatment of child and their involvement later in the criminal behavior (Hussey, 2006). The National Institute of Justice is investigating the interdisciplinary approaches with the research initiative on family violence which involves the communities, the children and their families. The focus of this program is to educate and aware the social communities for the improvement in their parenting skills, enhancing the child health and preventing the neglect and abuse.
