Application of Intimate Violent Theory

Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to apply the theory of intimate violence to the story I read on the book. The story is about Rita who was a girl of 17 years. Rita used to work in a company for her breading. She belonged to a poor family and she had to work for her breading. At her job, Rita met her boss named John who was a man of 31 years. With the passage of time Rita got frank with her boss and that friendship grew as a relationship with the passage of time (Ageton1983). They started meeting each other and these dates brought them more closely. After sometimes Rita got the news that she is pregnant. She did not want to have the babies at that stage so she asked John that she wants abortion, but he refused. When she forced him for that he first time slapped her on her face. Gradually the hitting thing turned into the beating. John did not even care that she is pregnant and he kept beating her. He used to lock her inside the room and harassed her. She asked her father to make her get rid of John but he refused to that it was your decision so handle it by yourself. She was as helpless as nobody was there to cure her (Campbell 2002).

Application of Intimate Violent Theory

In this case of Rita the intimate theory of violence can be better implemented. As in this case Rita was suffering from the intimate violence. According to the intimate violence theory a person is being violated by his friend or any close relationship. And in this case Rita is being violated by John who was her boy friend and she was very close to her.

The theory says that there are so many causes of the violence by the partner and these causes are very clear and are debated by every person living around. There are two theories that capture the influence of intimate violence in it heavily. One theory is the social theory that has the logic that violence is shifted from one generation to the next generation (Campbell 1998). While other is the feminist theory that says that male dominance affects the society and the violence occurs because of the male dominancy as it affects the society.

The problem of studying intimate violence - one of the most brutal crimes against the person - its causes and consequences is not only a social and criminology, but also to a large extent a psychological problem. In order to effectively combat this scourge, you should try to understand who is in what situation and why does the violence.
