PART 1

Web Service

A web service refers to software that uses a set of standards and protocols for data exchange mechanism between different applications. Various software applications developed in different programming languages can use web services to exchange data on computer networks like Internet (Cerami, 2002). The interoperability is achieved through the adoption of open standards. To improve interoperability between different implementations of Web services, it has created the body WS-I, responsible for developing profiles to more fully define these standards. A Web service guides the direct interactions by the use of XML-based messages through the exchange of Internet-based protocols. Web services represent the three most important parts of cooperation between client and server: the coming together, binding, and data exchange. Web services are accessible via a unique URL. The used platform-independent standards are capable of remote method calls any platforms to decode and transmit it to an application (Tang & Selwood, 2003).

Big Web Services

Big web services enable the exchange of data in the form of XML messages between heterogeneous systems. Although remote access to data and application logic is not a new concept, loosely coupled with the implementation is new. Some previous attempts, such as DCOM, IIOP, and Java / RMI require close integration between the client and the server by using methods of binary data and an implementation platform. Unlike these protocols, XML Web services do not require technology or components of a particular convention for the call of the objects (Katz, 2002).  This type of coupling is required in areas where the simultaneous updating of all parties involved in the exchange of messages is not possible.

XML Web services are created using the ASP .NET page framework to allow access to various features. Because ASP .NET and. NET Framework is the basis for XML Web services in managed code, developers can focus on creating or accessing XML Web services without needing to write code such as infrastructure.
