Managing creativity and change

Introduction

The changes that are taking place in the world are dynamic. Over the past century, the world has rapidly progressed from being “quantitative-based” to “qualitative-based.” The changes that are taking place in the world are a result of effective management. The progress from the era of industrialization to digitalization has shifted the focus from the quantity of production to quality. This shift in approach has also been complemented by a shift in the management styles and approach. Further effective management would require a new set of skill that adapts to the dynamic environment.

Discussion

The human perceptions have changed over the years. This is evident from the fact that previously economics was considered as the wealth of nations (p.15). This perception saw a change, and the economics was redefined as the study of human behaviour regarding its relative needs and wants in the light of scarce resources. Therefore, the focus is now on fulfilling the needs and wants of consumers in the most optimum manner possible (p.24).

Changes in production methods

The production methods over the years have changed globally in the light of the dynamic changes that are occurring. The world has moved from mass production to the modern method of lean production (p.33). It is important that we understand the difference between them.

Lean production

Firstly, we need to understand what is lean production? It is an approach of management that seeks to elimination or reduction of all non-value adding activities (p.40). The concept is that by adjustment in output, improvement in quality of production and decreases costs of production. This system is very focused on the actual activities and how to implement them in the most efficient manner possible. Whereas the position is established and the different methods are familiar for applying the methods of Japanese, its origins actually lead to British and American systems, according to the characters conceived as W. Edwards Deming and Henry Ford (p.45). However, it took several ears before the companies in West began to learn and apply the essentials of this system. The central concept states that by adjusting production improve product quality and decrease production costs (p.64).

In any domain of ??business, the description of a new procedure is likely to be adopted by many new leaders who make their contribution to the concept. In many cases, this boils down to a desire to become a leader of opinion but, sometimes, a brilliant thinker adds new elements that will lead to a different approach to management. The different methods that have been developed over the past half century are Kaizen, yield reduction, demand-based production, wrapping, and 5S, TQM, Quality Circle, OEE, SPC, PDCA and Quality Circle. Though probably be throwing new ideas right now (p.89).

Those corporations that overcome the difficult environment will consist of those that attempt the most to prosper and make improvements; at times it is worth taking view of other flourishing practices implemented and adopts them. Many companies that include logistic operations are ...
