Evolution of IRC

The NGO picked for this case is “International rescue committee”.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) started its operations in 1933 to help people who wanted to run away from the fascism in Europe. IRC was founded on request of the most genius brain that lived on earth, Albert Einstein. The International Rescue committee offers life saving and live changing assistance to people who survived disasters or wars. Its operations are in around 40 countries specially USA and its 22 cities. The mission has been to ensure safety, dignity and hope to deracinated and those struggling to endure. We will discuss its operations mainly in the United States.

Since then it has evolved into the finest agency supporting communities suffering crises through peace, renaissance and re development. The IRC started a Post Conflict Development Initiative (PCDI), a tactical center devoted to inform and support the policies and practices of IRC related to intermediary and post conflict interventions. The other initiatives taken by IRC were developed through its evolution period where it also developed CDR or community driven reconstruction work, its most successful approach in reconstruction and recovery programming.

IRC from the very beginning understood that the key to capture the target market in the non-profit world is relevant messaging exactly at the time when these people want to donate to the cause. IRC therefore focused on the automation of the marketing and made efforts to achieve this segmentation and automation to get this relevancy target.

To run things smoothly and to achieve the target of the welfare of the people PCDI worked in the field with IRC's field staff and the Stanford University's centre for democracy, development and rule of law (CDDRL). The aim behind this was to develop an understanding of an effective monitoring and evaluation system which would be able to measure the impact of the running programs. IRC has since then continued to work with Stanford's scholars to find out random evaluations of its CDR programs and tries to learn from these results for the future betterments and improvements of its practices.

Today IRC has an innovative program that takes the advantage of the data provided by Saleforce.com (one of it allies) which is also synched with Silver pop Engage (website), about the donor, non donor and the potential donors to design its behaviorally driven campaigns. With this bi-way integration IRC is now able to base its queries on behaviors and demographics to convey relevant communications ultimately driving the revenue.

IRC wants to implement automated campaigns based on individual behavior which will help IRC to design campaigns using Silver pop's Web tracking facility. This will help to track the attributes of the visitors to known contacts, on the basis of which IRC can take actions and once these visitors are identified according to their web behavior their profiles are instantly available for queries, scoring, which programs to induct them into and alerts.
