Kubrick has tried various new shots, lighting techniques and composition, which has made this movie astonishing for the viewers. When I watched this movie critically, I have found various shots, which are quite amazing considering the era of 1960s. The aerial shots which are used to shoot aircraft scenes over the mountains and clouds are quite innovative and original. The scene when General Turgidson calls Group Captain and threatened him. A high angle shot is used to demonstrate the power and authority of the General with harsh lighting. There was another scene when all military and political personalities set together for the meeting; the composition of the round table conference scene was also pretty marvelous. The composition of presidential room is also set quite amazingly, when the president meets with Dr. Strangelove about the formation of the bomb. Definitely the way scenes and compositions are made enhances the definition of each character and the scene. The lighting upon General Turgidson elucidates his power and authority. The low angle shots of aircrafts demonstrate the strategic warfare movement and the hi-tech composition of the presidential suit enlighten his reach and supremacy over the country.
