Biography of Karl Marx

Karl Marx born was on 05.05.1818 in Trier, died on 14.03.1883 in London. Son of the late councilor Heinrich Marx (originally Marx Levi, Mordecai old Jewish surname), who in 1824 with his family to Protestantism. (Duncan: 19).

From 1835-41 Marx political science, philosophy and history studied in Bonn and Berlin, where he joined the Hegelian movement. 1842/43, he was editor of the liberal "Rheinische Zeitung" in Cologne. In 1843 he married Jenny von Westphalen and moved over because he had to resign the editorship because of his radicalism, to Paris, together with Arnold Ruge, the "German-French Yearbooks" issue (continued the forbidden "German Annals").(Bottomore: 121)

Paris studied Marx and socialism Kommuismus, there began working more closely with Friedrich Engels , with whom he wrote against B. Bauer "The Holy Family" (1845), also he wrote the "German Ideology" (1845, printed before 1926) and developed the fundamental ideas of his theory.

Disclosed at the request of the Prussian government, he went to Brussels, where Engels followed. Here he published the magazine "The Poverty of Philosophy" (1847, German 1885) against the bourgeois socialism of Proudhon and put Broad is his reasoning connected with D. Ricardo work of value and surplus value theory ("Discours sur la question du Libre Echange", 1848 ).

With Engels he founded in 1847 in Brussels the "German Workers' Educational Association" and the "Democratic Association", which itself was founded by the London Communist Weitling "League of the Just" in conjunction. In the revolutionary year 1848 reported from Brussels, Marx went to Cologne and edited the "Neue Rheinische Zeitung" in the left-wing democratic spirit. After suppression of the newspaper he went to London. He lived there, mostly poor and supported by Engels, scientific work. In the 1864 set up in London "First International", he was the leader operates. In London, he created his masterpieces "The 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte" (1852), "Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy" (1859), especially "Das Kapital" (1867, volumes 2 and 3, edited by Frederick Engels, 1885 - 94).

Marx was an employee at Horace Greeley's "New York Tribune" and the "New American Cyclopedia". He wrote "The Critique of the Gotha Program," the vice-founded Socialist Workers Party of Germany (written 05/05/1875, printed 1890/91) and for the party Guesde "Le parti ouvrier programs you" (1883). The communist uprising, he described in "The Civil War in France" (1871). (Seigel: 7)
