Introduction

The paper discusses theme of Little Red Riding Hood, in the light of two elements that have significantly contributed to the narrative theme of all time praised fairy tale, which comes from Histoires ou Contes du temps passé, avec des Moralités, collection of Charles Perrault (Sova, 2006). Indeed, it is a classic piece of literary work that has been evaluated in various themes based on the provided oral versions of the story. However, the most attractive and most basic theme of this short story is the advice given to young children about their self-safety.

Thesis Statement

Children must stay away from strangers, which is in greater good of their safety and protection.

Discussion

In the story, Little Red Riding Hood, Perrault has portrayed a little girl, who used to visit her grandmother, living in the forest. She portrayed a true picture of innocence and purity, which was about to be killed by a wild animal, the wolf. The story has pictured the encounter between a small girl and the wolf.

Theme of the Story

The story is narrated by an omniscient, which is a third person and apparently is not in relation with any character or the setting of the story. Narrator has beautifully managed a tone of storytelling that enchants the reader into its imaginative world. At various places, smooth transition of tone from innocence to carelessness to wild encounter has been skillfully portrayed and conceived in the story. The narrator has swung across various moods of the leading characters of the story. For instance, at the beginning of the story, little girl promises her mother that she will go straight to pay visit to her grandmother rather than hanging dwindling around.
