Mesoamerica

The geometry of the Mesoamerican sculpture is fine and sharp showing clear lines and the shapes. The shade of light and dark colors complements each other making a dreamy image. The figure is reclining in the manner of classical Mesoamerican sculpture, by combining the power rested with elements and majesty. The look creates volumes that are related to organic architecture, the development of curved and wavy profiles that define a very careful study of nature. Everything is spinning in circles surround (Guernsey, 2012). The figure works like architecture and takes on a monumental, albeit in smaller proportions. The body's shapes is diluted, merged into a continuous aspect, which gives a closed figure, around the hole, or holes, which are the true object of the composition.

Chadwick was inspired as well as in natural forms, in primitive art, especially Egyptian figures, Mayan and African. One enjoys this art work because it does not differentiate between human forms and natural or cosmic forces. In the early 20's he traveled to Paris and Italy, interest in the work of Rodin. Michelangelo and Picasso also show the way to mastery of the material and abstraction, respectively. A distinction is made between the total and partial volumes. Looking at the Amount of material used, the findings relate to the bulk volume. Thus, a work, despite little material consumption seems heavy and bulky - or vice versa - if a special mass distribution favors this impression (sketches for mass distribution, for optically weight).

One issue that began in 1929, inspired by the Mayan statue of Chac-Mool (the god of rain), which in the work of Chadwick becomes archetypal image of the mother, an image which embodies both the fertile land and the woman as a source of life. The surface structure or texture is in addition to their importance ...
