Parking in Leesborough Community

Executive Summary

Improper parking space can cause a lot of issues for a colony. It can disturb the flow of traffic, cause congestion and lead to violations of the regulations (Shoup, 2005). This paper addresses a similar problem. The tenants of Leesborough Community face jammed lanes and congested parking lots on a daily basis due to the fact that there are more cars than space in the colony. The management is focused more on the construction of a garden in the colony, which would lead to a further shortage of parking space. The main purpose of this research is to emphasize on the importance of a proper parking space in the area and the pressing need for a parking committee. The findings of the research done in this regard conclude that the residents of the colony are concerned and disturbed by the lack of parking space and look forward to some positive implementations by the management.

Parking in Leesborough Community

Introduction

Ever since the invention of the wheel, man has progressed further and further with the modes used for transportation. From carts and carriages to trains and sports cars, new improvements and advancements keep happening on a daily basis. As the population of the world grows, so does the need for more vehicles and the production of vehicle companies (Bjorn, 1993). Today there are millions of vehicles in each and every country of the world and this is the main cause for traffic jams, pollution and congested roads (Downie, 2008). Today, there is hardly any space for pedestrians to walk or for a person hoping to take a pleasant stroll on a nice breezy evening because the roads are crammed with cars, buses and trucks.

Statement of the problem

Our community faces a similar problem. Due to the increase in vehicles and lack of proper space, there is a severe shortage of parking space in the area. At a time, only ten vehicles can be parked and in case of any variation, the roads get clogged. Residents of the area are left with no choice but to park their vehicles in no-parking zones and this blocks the entrance of the colony. With so many cars crammed into the tiny parking space and surrounding areas, it becomes almost impossible for emergency vehicles and passing cars to find passage.

A parking committee is in the process of being formed for the community but it could take a while before the committee is formed and starts making decisions. Discussions with other tenants of the area revealed that they feel equally bothered by the lack of parking space and wish something would be done as soon as possible.

Furthermore, it is rumoured that a garden committee ...
