It is one of the essential tools which provide a better understanding of employee's personal objectives and help in motivating employees through administrative decisions. Introduction

One of the most important strategies of business success is making objectives and implementation of those objectives in a satisfactory manner. Appropriate use of effective objective accompanied with employee appraisals can improve business performance and assist organizations in analyzing employee's work abilities. Appraisal are important and essential in organizations to keep employee motivated thus, managers needs some way to appraise employees performance (Dessler, 2011, pp. 306). Management shall establish clear and analytical work objectives, helping employees to focus on a specific task and company mission. Despite of its importance, employee appraisal process is most disliked human resource activity by organizations (Thomas & Bertz, 1994, pp.28). Managers and employee disregard this process because neither managers nor employees involved in setting criteria for appraisal. Moreover, some managers dislike this process because of the solicit response from the human recourse department upon their suggestions and views. Thus, performance appraisal is said to be among the six deadly diseases that keep companies to perform efficiently (Staff of Employee Recruitment & retention, 2010). However, it is an accepted phenomenon that performance appraisals have positives impacts on individual career and work life. This process stands significant for many other policy or management process. It can make employees motivated and increases business efficiency. Performance evaluations at regular intervals, helps firms to analyse employees goals and areas where one can improve (Grote, 2010, pp 1).Discussion and Analysis

An ideal performance appraisal system from management prospective would probably be helpful in evaluating an employee's job performance and making administrative decisions about employees. Administrative decision includes salary raise, promotion and other decisions taken by the higher level management after reviewing the employee's work performance. Appraisals from the employee's prospective are submission of all his efforts that were proposed by him during his job time. The optimum performance appraisal system shall be design to rectify the problem areas and achieve goals. It should not be theoretical but also be useful pragmatically.

Performance appraisal is an instrument or form to assess job performance of employees. It is an interview for reviewing the employee's job expectation and actual performance given by the employee. It refers to the more systematic approach that helps in assessing new feedback regarding the employee's goals and expectation for the coming tenure (McGrath, 2010, pp. 17). Setting performance based objectives with quantifiable performance targets facilitates in monitoring employee performance on a larger platform.
