Introduction

Jim Jarmusch's “Dead Man” is a black and white production, which is a journey of young man in an unusual terrain. Dead man is a trendy classic due to the role of Johnny Depp. The movie was produced in 1995 and thumped up by the audience of America. The reasons of loving this movie are not cleared; whether it was an anti western, or western parody some other kind of production those audiences have never seen before. The analysis of the movie indicates that it was a commentary on Western society which was provided by dead poet, William Blake (Johnny Depp).

Discussion

The character William Blake travels to the America's western frontiers in 19th century. Blake has lost his parents and he draws his way from Cleveland to Machine, a small town in west. He had only few dollars in his pocket and a job letter. When Blake reaches at Machine, he realized that he is late for the job as the vacancy was already filled by another. After that he spends a night with a former prostitute and later on murders the lover of that woman.

The movie is an incongruous juxtaposition of famous English painter and poet, William Blake. The poet has been considered as the key to American Revolution that held pledge for liberation from the repressed and oppressed society of Europe and England. In the movie of Jim, the dead Blake carries a train into the American dream, which has already become a terrifying mare by the early years of 18th century. As a matter of fact, the starting scene in the car passenger aware us with the reference of time frame which indicates the years of 1820s, when millions of buffaloes got slaughtered (Rosenbaum & Jonathan, 2000).
