The basic premise of this research paper is to discover the epidemiology of co-occurring disorders and findings of the study for the functioning and possible suggestions for the treatment of substance abuse. This article is talk about the severity of disorder as a subject that may particular importance in relation to the selection of specialized as opposed to traditional treatment forms of substance abuse.

Investigation is done, as well the resources that were presently accessible for the treatment of substance abuse, particularly the available human resources, and the suggestions for the availability of resources for taking specific initiatives to co-occurring disorder. Results from standard and enhanced treatment for individuals who have Co-occurring Disorders are observed and try to explain the areas of need for typical and specialized treatment for comorbid persons. Further issues are discussed for the consideration of clinical research and for communities that provide treatments in terms of judgment and diagnosis, training and manpower, and answer to the population that are confronting relapse.

One of the limitations of this study is that the dual diagnosis unit is based on assumptions and reality.
