Security Project

Introduction

Security is an ancient need, traditionally achieved through physical means (Fischer, Halibozek & Green, 2008). Craighead (2009, p. 27) informed that security is defined as being “free from danger” and “safe”. Fischer, Halibozek and Green (2008, p. 31) defined security as the “stable, relatively predictable environment in which an individual or group may pursue its ends without disruption or harm and without fear of such disturbance or injury” while O'Block, Donnermeyer and Doeren (1991, p. 7) defined security as “freedom from fear of crime and the actual danger of being the victim of crime”. Manunta (1999) criticized security definitions such as the ones provided by the likes of Fischer, Halibozek and Green (2008), O'Block, Donnermeyer and Doeren (1991) and Craighead (2009) since such definitions were vague and descriptive. Manunta (1999) argued that the definition of security have to be realistic and capable of being operational.

Security is not threatened; there was no danger, harm and loss. The overall survival of the human environment resources harmony with each other does not hurt; there is no risk of harm to the hidden dangers. Eliminating the unacceptable risk of harm, security is in the process of human production, the running state of the system may have on human life, property, environmental damage control in humans can accept below the level of the state. The term comes from the word security 'securitas' of Latin. Every day can refer to the safety and absence of risk or even to trust in something or someone. However, the term can take different meanings depending on the area or field to which it refers (Scheffran, 2008, 13-21).

The study aims to identify the scope of the security domain through the different definitions of security presented, described in the printed media and in organizational structures based on the research that will be conducted. The research will be concentrating on a printed media. The research aimed to identify an understanding of the security domain broadly (Pitch, 2010).

Background

The security is very essential aspect in the life because it keeps people life more secure from any threat or risk. According to Fischer and Green, they explain the security as a safe environment that people able to do their activity without any concern from any risk which can put them in risky situation. However, they explain the dark side of the security meaning such as terrorists because they describe the terrorist like a major risk to people and they can change the secure environment to danger place by their attack in anytime and anywhere (2004, p.21).However, Brooks clarify in the same breath as traditional definition to the security meaning because it just show the significant element in security as protection or safe targets (Brooks, 2010).
