Q1. There are three reasons why you must preach the Gospel with a sense of urgency. What are they?

One, “from the nature and necessities of the case.” God is willing to save all who call on him, but “how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:13, 14). To set preaching aside “is virtually to say that God has abandoned his purpose to save mankind.”

Two, “from the fact that the church has been constituted the pillar and support of the truth” (I Timothy 3:15). The church must radiate the light of truth by preaching the gospel (Isaiah 60:1-3).”

Three, “this important truth is also frequently taught and variously set forth and illustrated in the prophetic writings. (Daniel 12:3, Revelation 14:6, 7).”

Q2. What are the seven steps of sermon preparation?

Step 1: Pray and choose a topic

The beginning of a sermon is not an act but an attitude. This attitude can turn into a habit, is that of prayer, seeking God's presence. From the outset and throughout the preparation, it is this quest for divine support that can make that human speech is a little bit received as the word of God.

Step 2: Assess and meditate

Once the text or texts chosen, the next step is to study and meditate on this biblical material. This is one of the steps that can take more time.

Step 3: Identify the main idea

This is a key step that is important not to overlook. Indeed, the biblical text is so rich that it is easy sometimes to want to talk about all that has been discovered by studying and meditating on the text. But to want to follow every lead, we may end up nowhere. A preacher should be a guideline, a key idea identifiable and memorable.

Step 4: Make a plan

From the moment a main idea was chosen and the study and meditation of the text have an abundance of things to say on the subject, it is important to organize the flow of thought that will serve the main idea to be transmitted. At this stage, we can choose a method homiletics (narrative approach, deductive preaching in the first person, etc..) And define the structure of what is shared. The aim of this approach to develop a plan designed to help the preacher to say in a clear, understandable and logical that it wants to communicate.

Step 5: Develop and expand its resources

When the canvas of preaching is defined, it is time to organize the contents of each part. One of the main sources that will fuel the body of preaching is the result of the study and meditation of the text, the result of observation, interpretation and updating of the text.

Step 6: Write

Finally, it is time to write. The question is not here to know whether or not to write everything. Each has its legitimate mode of operation, but it is in any case be clearly defined, by a text or notes, what to say when we will say ...
