Introduction

The Diary of Anne Frank is a book of the writings from the Dutch language diary kept by Anne Frank while she was in hiding for two years with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands (Gies and Leslie, 1988). Even though several themes such as coming of age, virtue, fear of war and sufferings can be seen to evolve from the plot, this document will discuss and explore two fundamentally recurring themes namely: Horror of war and Adolescents dilemma.
