Introduction

In this essay, we are trying to explore the various aspects and skills involved in conducting a community based research. For this purpose, we have chosen two community based researches regarding mental heath services of community, and rural and remote nurses' work setting and community satisfaction.

According to the operational definition of Community based Research, this kind of research occurs in an environment where community members conduct research and analyze the outcome and respect the participation of all members for exploring useful and helpful insights to improvise communities (The Socio Logical Initiative Foundation, 2007). Its key features include collaboration between community partners, effective research for the benefit of community, critical analysis of community data, incorporation of the findings of research to community and ultimate advantages to the society as a whole.

Introduction to Chosen Community based Research Articles

In this regard, we have chosen two researches to discuss its community-based approach. First research named as, A community mental health service delivery model: integrating the evidence base within existing clinical models, explains the model that was aimed to develop via research pertaining to the provider of mental heath service. In this regard, researcher has gone through literature reviews regarding suitable models and consulted a several experts. Results have suggested that the adequate model must provide the services related to emergency responses, consulting services, rehabilitation teams, association with general practitioners etc. As a result researcher has suggested that a community mental health service provider should take into account the issues like clarity of roles and conducting a gap analysis to plan costs and expenses of the services (Flannery. F., Adam. D. and Connor. N., 2011, p.49-55).

In the second chosen research named as Work Setting, Community Attachment and Satisfaction Among Rural and Remote nurses, in which researcher has tried to identify the relationship between community satisfaction and connection between musses working in rural and remote areas particularly in Canada. For this purpose researcher has conducted a cross sectional survey. In addition, results have been measured by using characteristics of home community satisfaction scale and single item questionnaire. Results proved that domestic care and community healthiness Registered nurses are adequately satisfied with their work as compare to registered nurses of other areas. Need of further research is indicated by the researcher in order to design recruitment and retention strategies. So that job satisfaction can be improvised (Kulig. C. et al. 2009, p. 430-439).

Discussion

Method of community based research

We would discuss the methods of community-based research for the research conducted by Kulig. C. et al. in 2009. In which author collected a data sample for conducting a cross-functional survey as mentioned on page no. 432 of the research. The main agenda of this survey was to ask the data sample to complete the given questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed in terms of various demographics, work characteristics, role of nurses, their practices and related concerns at work.
