Introduction

Thesis Statement: Cell phone is an asset to society, Cell phones are being purchased more than computers, effects of cell phone depend on its use, and if it is used for constructive purposes it is one of helpful device. Use of Cell phone in school can help students with their education.

Use of cell phones in school is a very controversial topic, there are two broad views regarding this issue many says that use of cell phone in schools helps children and parents get connected, whereas many other argue that use of cell phones directly affects the studies of child. Many private schools have set rules for using cell phones, under the rules students are allowed to use cell phones under some circumstances, if student want to use it then they must comply with some rules and regulations. The focus point is that these schools consider that having cell phones is not a bad thing. Other than this many private school view that cell phone is an essential mode of communication which helps in building strong communication between children and their busy parents. This is one of the core reasons, on the basis of which many private schools allow use of cell phones on their premises. Although, they allow the use of cell phones on the basis that it should be switched off during the class and must be utilized under certain conditions. Whereas there are many schools who specify in their guidelines in written about the use of cell phones, it becomes important for every student to abide those written rules.

Discussion

The discussion on a cell phone ban in schools has always existed and is managed inconsistently. It's not the annoying phone ringing in class or secret text messaging, which is listed as arguments to a cell phone ban, but the so-called happy slapping is the main argument for the ban. There is also an opposing view regarding use of cell phones in schools, it suggests that the use of cell phones in school creates a distraction, such as many inaudible and high-pitched ringtones makes cell phones easy to use and hide. Although it is proved that adults over age thirty cannot listen to the some of the high pitched ring tones, this is the reason these high-pitched ringtones used by many of the teens deliberately. Other than this there is a high probability that cell phones might use for some of the un-ethical acts such as cheating, calling wrong numbers and disturbing some of the class mates by bullying them.
