Introduction

This paper is divided into two main parts; the first part of this essay covers three field trip reviews about the documentary called The Aggressives. The second field trip reviewed is the Greek play Medea by Euprides followed by a review of an art piece from the New York City Rubin Museum.

The second part of this essay includes providing quotations and comparing the Greek and British culture. The quotations would be incorporated for better distinction of the two cultures, from coming from the sources such as Plato and Shakespeare.

Part I

The Aggressives

This documentary is made by Daniel Peddle and released in January 2012, to viewers at large. The main theme of this documentary is to present a unique perspective and outlook about those lesbians that have strong male tendency but are not transgender. The name of the documentary itself suggests those women who want to be in same gender relationship but possess strong innate masculinity in their personalities, using this term. The extent of masculinity exceeds to the point where these women want to hide or downplay their female body components such as breasts and look flat chested like men. These individuals participate in various drag balls around the city; the six main subjects for this documentary, which include Kisha, whose client do not even realize that she is a woman in real. While the second subject is Rjai who is seeking to purchase a three, piece suit and has become a celebrity of sorts after appearing in a local TV show. The third subject is called Tiffany who is currently going through gender change treatment, as she wants to physically change her gender for her gay (male) boyfriend. The fourth subject is Octavia who is shown being behind bars due to involvement in a drug-dealing scan and is experiencing strong temperament issues. The last subject depicted in the documentary includes Marquise who is shown facing personal issues after enrolling in the army and states the struggle it takes for a person like 'her' to join the defence services of her country (Deming, n.d).

Martel (2005) states that this seventy two minutes long movies, poses to its audience various challenges being faced by six utterly brave women, who have not only set out to challenge the status quo but have also challenged the laws of nature, in order to become who they really want to.

Medea by Euripides

This Greek play narrates the story about the consequences of jealousy and harbouring negative feelings of revenge by a wife whose husband betrays and abandons for someone else. She is consumed with rage as she leaves her home and her alone father for her husband, Jason, who after years of marriage and having children leaves her for the daughter of ruler of Corinth.
