The Hunger Games

Introduction

The Hunger Games is a novel adult-juvenile Science Fiction written by the acclaimed author of The Underland Chronicles, Suzanne Collins . It was originally published in hardcover on September 14, 2008 by Scholastic Press. It is the first book in the trilogy of the Hunger Games. The star of sixteen, Katniss Everdeen, lives in a post-apocalyptic world where a powerful government called the Capitol Hill has come to power after several devastating disasters. In the book, "Hunger Games" is an annual televised event on Capitol Hill which randomly selects one boy and one girl from each of the twelve districts, which then face each other in a game of survival and forced to kill until only one remains.

The second book in the series, In Flames , was published on September 1, 2009 in the United States through 2010 did not come to Spain.The third book, Sinsajo , was released on August 24, 2010 in the U.S. and 2 September 2010 in Spain.

Peeta and Katniss had a relationship since the day Peeta saved Katniss's live, with a loaf of bread. “Its because he's being kind. Just as he was kind to give me the bread.” During the Hunger Games Katniss keep on having the urge to repay Peeta by saving his live. She saved Peeta's live, by looking after him when he saved Katniss's live yet again by sacrificing his leg so that Katniss can get away. Katniss used all her knowledge that she had learned from her mum about wounds, to keep Peeta alive during the end of the Hunger Games. Katniss then repayed Peeta for saving her live with a victory of The Hunger Games (Joshua, 2).

A history of war has left the 12 districts that divide Panem under the tyrannical power of the "Capitol". Without freedom and poverty, no one can leave the confines of his district. Only a 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, dared to defy the rules for food. Its principles will be tested with "The Hunger Games", televised spectacle on Capitol Hill organized to humiliate the population. Each year, 2 representatives from each district will be forced to survive in a hostile environment and fight to the death between them until a single survivor. When her younger sister is chosen to participate, Katniss does not hesitate to take its place, determined to demonstrate its firm and resolute, even in the most desperate situations there is room for love and respect.

The relationships Katniss creates between her and Rue, during the Hunger Games are on of the many relationships that kept her alive. Her relationship with Rue helped her destroy the “Career Tributes” food source. This gave Katniss a big advantage to survival.
