Chapter 1: Introduction

• Determine the impact of beliefs nurses 12-hour shift on their well-being;

• Determine the effect of 12-hour shift on the members of a multidisciplinary team from the intensive care unit.

Research Questions

This paper will address the following research questions:

Q1. Is the 12-hour shift really a good option for nurses?

Q2. What are the effects of a 12-hour shift on the nurses working in the ICU?

Q3. Do the nurses require more flexible work environment rather than the contemporary 12-hour shift?

Some theoretical models are useful to describe how a flexible work schedule affects the main results.
