Introduction

The book World is Flat is written by a well known writer of New York Times, Thomas Friedman, who wrote this book in the perspective of globalization .He serves as the Foreign Affairs columnist and is awarded three times. In this report we are going to discuss his statement “Those who get caught in the past and resist change will be forced deeper into commoditization. Those who can create value through leadership, relationships and creativity will transform [their] industry, as well as strengthen relationships with their existing clients…Everyone has to focus on what exactly is their value-add”. Thomas. L Friedman, The World is flat (2006:p15).

Discussion

When we look at the statement, we get to know that, the writer is talking about the thing which no one should practice in this world of Globalization. If a person stays in past, then the results would be not in favor of anybody and the one cannot progress in this world which has moved towards phase 3 of globalization. The result of those who are emphasizing on past and takes past as everything one can have, writer depicts them as the people who are growing themselves as materialistic. If a person is not adopting change then nothing could make him grow, this is the truth one can see in the whole world. Materialism seems stagnant and boring. The importance of things which can be created by adding some value in it cannot be ignored. A simple touch in anything makes the thing very different in any situation. When we talks about leadership, same goes with it as well. Leadership is a thing which can create a great difference in any organization or in any management system. A person having Leadership qualities usually proves to be a great one for his organization and management etc. but a leader who has something extra and special in them takes the organization high above the sky. The leader with acceptance to change grows significantly in this world of change. Resistance to change only leads a person or an organization towards the stage of stagnation. Management without adopting the procedures coming through would be left behind and would suffer like cash dog when nothing is produced by the organization but is depending on the savings they have.
