In United States 3M is one of the most innovative firms. The main factor that contributes in the innovation of 3M is, the company is able to respond to the opportunities in the market. 3M spends roughly 6-7 percent of revenues on research and development and has regularly expanded R&D spending over the last several decades. The R&D spending of 3M is, on midpoint, twice that of a normal fabricating association (James, 1995).

The creative environment of 3M allows all workers, even at the ground level, to practice their own ideas and innovation. It is a tradition of 3M that each and every worker can present and practice new ideas. The company has no set pattern of idea generation, instead it give space to its employees to work on their own ideas.
