Introduction

9/11 is the most significant event after the two world wars that has had immense implications for many countries around the world. Several nations became embroiled in the war and many countries continued to suffer from the direct or indirect actions of American policies that were shaped under the influence of this attack. The world has changed. It is no longer safe as it used to be. The event lead to a new clash. This was the clash between the west and the angry militants. The war instead of subsiding is growing with time. Even after having declared a victory, America continues to engage with the Taliban as civilian casualties on the Afghan side rises with every day and drones kill an increasing number of civilians in Pakistan. The situation faced by America is no better as recently the death toll of its troops passed the 2,000 figure. Despite plans for an imminent withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2014, America remains poised to extend the war to other countries. Yemen, Somalia and Libya have been such examples. More countries could possibly be victim.

Thesis statement

No single event has affected the world as much as the incident of 9/11 since the World Wars. This incident set out a chain of reactions that continue to keep evolving and increasing even after more than a decade has passed. Lead by the blind belief that national security can be ensured through technology, this belief has culminated in tragedies for thousands of people around the world. With time the significance of 9/11 will fade for those who suffered on this day, but will keep rising for other nationalities and peoples.

Discussion

The significance and the importance of 9/11 and its impact on the world cannot be underestimated. In fact, 9/11 set out a chain of reactions that have been continuing unabated. Many incidents can directly or indirectly be traced to 9/11. From the dying civilians of Afghanistan and the mounting casualties of coalition solders, the drone attacks in Pakistan and Somalia continue to have an impact that is far more worst than what America had suffered on one day. The sufferings of Americans on just one day were transformed into over deacde long sufferings that still continue for many other countries. Without the 9/11 attacks, there is no doubt that President Bush's invasion of Iraq could have been carried out. Also other implications of the attacks were that Israel could not have carried out its attacks on Hamas and Hezbollah in two short wars against Palestine and Lebanon had it not been for 9/11. Tourist all around the world would never have faced the many obstacles that they now face. From Madrid bombings to bombings in London, and drones continuing with their targets of alleged militants in Pakistan and Somalia, the world still reels from the consequences of 9/11.
