A critical analysis of the practices of human resource management to improve performance and management reform health care in Sierra Leone

Abstract

Purpose - The purpose of this dissertation is to critically analyze the practices of human resource management (HRM) in the context of developing countries, like Sierra Leone. It focuses on the components of framework and commitment to research workers in human resources management to provide theoretical knowledge.

Design / methodology / approach - To find item above, on-site meetings were conducted with CEOs, HR professionals, line managers and managers of the merger of eight companies in health. Moreover, an experiment is comprised of 252 workers, thus helping the spread of results.

Results - This dissertation presents important data and present information and practices of human resource management in Sierra Leone. paper argues that some of the variables meet certain tests under the practices of human resource management. However, the tracks also reveals that the notion and information management practices of human resources, for example education, recruitment, reimbursement, employee participation, the assessment and payment plans are in a place with some signs of localized influence.

Research limitations / implications - This dissertation reports that moves multinational business management expertise to Africa may not necessarily be needed because the information currently lives there. The most important limitation may be out of use of convenience in the choice of trying to healthcare companies, but more caution is taken away for trustworthy representation.

Originality / value - Contrary to top management perspective of Africa is distinuished by authoritarianism, this study shows the participatory approach of management. On the other hand, integrates attitudes and ideas of workers, the general part of the studies neglected human resource management.

Introduction

Research on relationship management proposes an intercultural vision is needed to realize organizational progress and prosperity with its management (Jackson, 2004), and is the correct way to make human resources management (Yagoubi, 2004) . Without doubt, to date management ideas and methods usually have their origin in the advanced countries (Kanungo and Jaeger, 1990).

Despite major publications have been developed over the past two decades, little has been cautious on the idea of intercultural management review of management in Africa. Overview of management seems to consider what assistance could be reached from the review of organizations in Africa (Jackson, 2004). Aid to Africa within the living body of information because it is the widespread prejudice on human resource management in Africa, paints mixed picture of the continent. Current literature on HR management in Africa still understands how the practices are distinguished from the Western context.
