Yager (1997) describes friendship as one of the most valued relationship that any person can ever have in their lives. Describing the eloquent words of Anais Nin, Yager (1997) further elaborates the importance of friendship by stating that every single friend represents a new and a different world in all of us, which comes into being only when they become a part of our lives. Also, because friends bring joy, happiness and sadness along with certain adventure and craziness into our lives. Let alone, there are countless books, movies, stories, and quotes dedicated to this unique relationship alone.

The meaning of friendship is as simple and complex as the relationship itself. Nevertheless, the importance of having friends in a person's life could be best termed in the manner that their self- development remains incomplete if they fail to have any friends. People tend to make friends with persons easily who are off the same age as them, or are few years younger or older to them. However, a person can also be friends with their parents, siblings and other older relatives, but this type of friendship is not the same as one would have with peers of their own age. With the advent of the internet, it has become easier to increase one's social circle and make new friends while strengthening bonds with the old ones. The countless social networking sites such as Face book, Twitter and more, along with countless internet chat messengers have made staying in touch with friends even easier. This quality of friendship being boundless and universal is what makes it so superior over other types of relationship.
