A pioneer in training - Stephen Covey

Introduction

Stephen R Covey was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 24th October, 1932. He was a grandson of Stephen Mack Covey, who was the founder of the original Little America close to Granger, Wyoming. Covey was an intelligent and confident person. He was an active member of the debate team and he graduated early from high school. He was one of the biggest names in the mass-market executive self-help sector, who contended with Anthony Robbins and possibly as a successor to Dale Carnegie. That the daily toil we all engage in deserves some thought about how we go about it. That there are better ways to do things than the ones we have already tried. The spreading of this awareness and creating a whole army of impassioned believers in seeking to achieve it is an extraordinary and enduring feat. Covey was another extraordinarily successful Utah Mormon, a family man of strong faith and principles and the father of nine children. His career began at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Covey earned a Master in Business Administration from Harvard University and DRE from Brigham Young University. He was awarded ten honorary doctorates and has served as an active member of Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity. Covey was well known as a renowned trainer, writer, humanist and academic scholar, who have developed quality training and consultancy services and products related to business.

Most of the businesses and organizations are using his 7 habits for improving their organizational performance. His values were full of humanity, integrity and he had contrasted them with the process based ideologies that were known as management thinking in the former times.
