Abstract

There are several difficulties that are faced by veterans while they enter into civilian life. The return from the war front accompanies crucial memories that affect the psychological perception and socialization skills of the veterans. Due to these, there are several difficulties that are faced by veterans when they return from war fronts. This paper will discuss the difficulties that are encountered by veterans in civilian life and approaches through which these difficulties can be coped with.

Difficulties Faced by Veterans in Civilian Life

Introduction

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the difficulties that are faced by the veterans when they return to civilian life. There are several difficulties that can be faced by the veterans in the civilian life as their behavior, psyche and frame of mind is crucially affected by the encounters at war front. There are several anomalies and disruptions encountered at the war front due to which the veterans cannot adjust in civilian life. If the United States can donate money to help other countries build homes for their homeless citizens then the country can certainly donate money to help build homes for the homeless soldiers. Nonetheless, the welfare of homeless soldiers should come first. The homeless troops of the United States need serious help. Moreover, it is the liability of the country and its citizens to assist them by any means.

Difficulties Faced by Veterans in Civilian Life

The organizations that help homeless soldiers and veterans found that the percentage of homeless soldiers is inclining. The Homeless soldiers' coalition estimates that nearly 500,000 soldiers are homeless currently. This problem occurs due to several month services in combat. The Department of Veterans Affairs concluded that 30,000 soldiers from Iraq had shown up at the health care facility of the institution. In addition, out of 30,000 homeless soldiers one every five has been diagnosed with some sort of a mental problem (Caton, 106). Nonetheless, some sources argue that there are several reasons due to which one cannot assist the homeless troops. The first and foremost reason prescribed by the arguers is the mental stability of the homeless soldiers. In the scenario, when government is arranging homes and healthcare services for the homeless troops, the initiative is not questioned. However, in the circumstances when a common man's assistance is required, this concern becomes debatable. Due to the mental conditions of the homeless troops one cannot offer them residence in their homes or near their locality; because, most of the soldiers are suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (Caton, 109).

Nonetheless, the homeless soldiers often react aggressively due to the encountered stress and current circumstances. When the assistance of a common man is required, these soldiers can be a serious threat to them and their families. However, the behavior that is predicted is not intentional from the fellow homeless troops. Nonetheless, it's a fact that these troops have been engaged in combat for several months.
