Young children during preschool will often show symptoms of hyperactivity before the age of seven. The symptoms include excessive restlessness, squirming about with difficulty remaining seated, walking and running around. (Purdie 61)A child that is hyperactive will have problems playing quietly, and may have problems with talking too much. This may be view as bad and or inappropriate behavior. A child may act on impulse by not waiting and or interrupting when others are speaking.

Children that are not diagnosed with ADHD will likewise display these symptoms.
