Adolescence and Moral Development

Two major causes exist for revising lesson development and during adolescence. First, cognitive alterations that occur during adolescence are associated to lesson development. Formal operational conceiving permits the adolescent to understand the social natural environment in new and different ways. Second, because adolescents are capable of devising anew and idealistic social orders to which all are expected to conform, we may view when as moral philosophers.

A number of researchers have noted other changes in lesson development that issue to the significance of adolescence as transition stage in lesson development. Unlike children, the adolescent is worried with what is right as opposed to what is wrong. Also, adolescents become more preoccupied with individual and communal moral ciphers. As they gain the competency to understand alternative points of view, they see that the moral codes are relative, not absolute. The above changes result in some conflict between moral conduct and moral thinking during adolescence (Susman, 2003).

Physical Development

Adolescence is characterized by dramatic personal alterations going the individual from childhood into physical maturity. Early, prepubescent alterations are documented with the appearance of secondary sexy characteristics. Girls may start to develop breast buds as early as 8 years vintage, with full breast development achieved anywhere from 12 to 18 years. Pubic hair development -- as well as armpit and leg hair -- normally begins at about age 9 or 10, and comes to mature person circulation patterns at about 13 to 14 years.

Cognitive development in adolescence

The cognitive advances of middle childhood (the concrete operational period) are limited because they can only be applied to relatively accessible problems, i.e. tasks concerned with the physical 'here and now', or easily imagined scenarios. During adolescence, many individuals progress beyond this limitation, and are able to deal with more abstract cognitive tasks. Piaget calls this (the final stage in his model) the period of formal operations. Number of tasks for children and adolescents, designed to illuminate changes in their reasoning processes. In one task, participants were presented with a set of pendulums, with objects of different weights suspended from strings of different lengths

Social and emotional development

Young adults face some formidable developmental tasks. Many people at the beginning of this stage are concerned with launching a career. They may be studying to gain the critical qualifications, or training at the entry level of an organization. Some will not be so lucky. In many countries, youth unemployment rates have been very high during the last century and appear set to continue. For most people, facing these issues brings a range of emotional reactions.

Development in Early & Middle Adulthood

Adulthood has no signpost to broadcast its onset (as adolescence is broadcast by puberty). In technologically sophisticated countries, the life span is more than 70 years. Developmental psychologists frequently believe early adulthood to wrap roughly age 20 to age 40 and middle adulthood approximately 40 to 65.
