Affirmative Action

Introduction

"Affirmative action is to ensure that all candidates are working, regardless of their race, culture, color or national origin" (Civil Rights 1964).

Affirmative action was created to help minorities leap for discriminatory barriers that have been ever since, when the bill was first passed in 1965. Currently in the country in the wake of a national civil rights demonstrations and racial tension on the all time high. Most of the corporate executive and managerial positions were white male, who controlled the hiring and firing workers. The U.S. government, in 1965, believed that these employers were discriminating against minorities, and believes that there is no better time than the present to achieve change. Affirmative action, which started with good intentions in the future lead to other, more complex forms of discrimination.

Discussion: Affirmative action

Affirmative action interventions aimed at providing management a chance to correct the injustice, error, or outright discrimination. Affirmative action policies are promoting equal opportunities and level playing field for a group of people who are discriminated against. After many years of immigration in the United States has become a melting pot for people worldwide with a broad range of races and nationalities. This measure helps to correct the mistakes of the past against minorities, which includes women, men, African Americans, Asians and Caucasians. It helps bring diversity to campus, as well as employment, thereby creating a more just society. Nevertheless, the fact that affirmative action deals with minorities, which aims to race makes it particularly controversial (Leonard, pp. 47-63).

It is also important to note that after the labor of one classification in the particular city department reach a point where it reflects the diversity of the available labor pool, a positive effort to stop the work of these classifications. Affirmative action is used only for classification, where women, people of color, and persons with disabilities are underrepresented in the workforce (Killian, pp. 13-43).

Affirmative action (which, of course, was the honorable intentions of all of its concepts, and in the case) contributes to the perpetuation of hatred. Affirmative action may be included in the tables, giving the upper hand over the white minority, but it is still based on race. Decisions scholarships or jobs should not be based on skin color. When two people are equally qualified, the decisive factor should not be as dark or light your skin color, and should not be whether you are male or female, rich or poor, old and young. We understand that the original intent of affirmative action is to eliminate (or at least reduce) racial discrimination in education and the workplace, but I believe that creating additional tension in relations between the races.
