Introduction

The course of the study will provide a thorough analyze the underlying case of AM associates. AM associates are primarily a consulting agency which provides recruitment consultancy services to different law firms, investment houses, and public sector companies. The course of the study is essentially going to be based on the organizational culture that developed at the AM associates and the prevailing approach of the management. The company established by MR. Andrew Mathews in the year 1991 and, since then the company has performed quite well. Today the company has more than 40 consultancy service offices throughout the United Kingdom.

The significance of organizational culture has gained more relevance with the advance of time (Lussier 2010, Pp. 19-67). In the past, most of the time, the autocratic management style has leaded the companies. The things have changed and, the world has become more and more dependent to each other. The analysis of the organizational culture at AM associates will be done and recommendations will be provided as per the analysis to improve the prevailing organizational culture at AM associates which is heading towards deterioration. The analysis of Am associates organizational culture will be made in context with the two distinct organizational culture models from Edgar Schein, and Deal and Kennedy.

Discussion

Organizational culture is the blending of the cultures of members of the institution; these cultures formed the basis of values, beliefs and ways of thinking, cultures and history of the institution, plus all the actions of individuals and their attitudes (Hofstede 1998, pp. 477-492). Culture provides definite forms of thought, feeling and reaction that guide decision-making and other activities of the participants in the organization. The apparently successful organizations have strong cultures that attract, retain and reward people for playing roles and meet goals. One of the most key roles of senior management is to shape the culture, personality, have a significant impact on the philosophy and management style. The philosophy of a person offers guidelines for behavior. The style refers to how something done (Jex 2008, pp. 129-142).

Analysis of the Organizational Culture at AM Associates

Different weaknesses and flaws have been identified after a thorough analysis of the prevailing organizational culture at the AM associates. The leadership and management style of the company's senior management has been changed from participative to the autocratic management style. Previously the senior management of the company was much more open to the associates and communications made between the senior management and the associates were effective (Baker 2002, Pp. 12-34). In the past, the management followed the philosophy of “In order to influence, get influenced first” that is first listening to the associates and then communicate their rectified point of view.

Communication issues have increased in the past 12 months within the company.

Disputes have increased employment contract terms and conditions.

The imbalance of work life of the associates due to extensive working hours.

Increase of frustration and anger of associates due to behavior of senior management which is more confined to the head office ...
