Introduction

Job-related slip and fall unpleasant incidents can often outcome in grave disabling injuries that impact a healthcare employee's capability to carry out his or her work, frequently resulting in lost workdays, low efficiency, and costly employee reimbursement claims, and reduced capability to provide heed for inmates. Being a Performance Improvement Director of a San Diego hospital, I would develop a plan in accordance to PDCA format to deal with these apparent accidental issues.

Discussion

Slips & Falls Impact and its Prevention

Falls are a major provider to an n inmate functional decline and increased healthcare use. Even if a fall does not cause a serious injury, it may triple the patient's likelihood of requiring placement in a skilled nursing facility. In today's developing pay-for-performance surroundings, health care services have a huge monetary risk in decreasing the number of inmate falls. Consequences of falls can result in hip break, death and prolong stay in hospitalizations. Slips and falls are preventable incidents (Bell and Collins, 2010).

A methodical approach towards accident analysis and prevention would be urbanized. It will rely on system hypothesis as an incident causation representation, and takes up a mix model for recognizing fundamentals of the safety management scheme. PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) procedure, usually adept in healthcare units for quality control, has been functional to defining workings of the scheme.

PDCA (fig, 1) has long been generally applied as a self-financing, continuous method for quality control. It consists of four steps for reassuring the excellence of services offered in the healthcare.
