Introduction

Ancient Myths provides great examples where myths were promoted to meet political ends. They are a good source of learning for all generations to come. We will see how myths have been used for political gains. In the face of richness, it is surprising that political theorists have largely neglected the topic of myth. Political theorists often dismiss myth as a primitive form of thinking, which disappeared with modern politics. Political myth, in particular, has thus remained a relatively marginal topic.

Myths are stories or narratives that provide meaning to our actions and conditions of existence. Classical Mythology is filled with countless examples where myths have been successfully used by influential personnel's to promote their vested interest in the form of promoting their political ends. Such examples exist in Ancient Greece, Egypt, and Rome etc.

Ancient Egyptian Mythology & Political Ends

Ancient Egyptian stories have evolved greatly with time. Ancient Egyptians have created many stories to meet their political ends. Examples of Egyptians using mythology to meet political ends comprises of Ogdoad of Hermopolis, others such as Heliopolitan Ennead and Memphite theology. One specific story talking about the creation highlights the production of an egg, by Chaos Gander.

They say that this egg was the son to make people believe in their false notion. Another mythology by the name of gander was linked by the Egyptians as Earth god to make people believe in their views and opinions. People to a large extent were made fool in this and those promoting such mythology were able to achieve their political gains and objectives. Egyptians use this to make people follow their political policies bluntly without arguing and questioning them on any account. They were able to link God with earth and decipher people that they should prodigiously follow the God Earth and work tirelessly towards satisfying the god Earth.

Egyptian Mythology is concerned with the actions of Egyptian gods as a foundation to gage the workings of earth. Egyptian myths are often fragments which are condensed to a large extent. Egyptian Myths can be traced from their art works, text and decoration of temples. Egyptians took time as a recurring event, with Gods coming and going through cyclical periods and achieving their political ends to a large extent. Egyptian Mythology was able to influence their culture and politics with Egyptian gods using myths to make people believe in their views and concur with their thinking's and principals to a large extent.

Zoroastrian Creation Myth & Political Ends

Another myth promoted by the Zaroastrian's was based on the promotion of good at the expense of evil. People were politically influenced through this that they should try and strive hard to achieve their desired goals and should follow a straight path in doing that. Through this Zoroastrian got hold of peoples nerves and made people convince that they should strive towards truth at all stages.
