Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to enlighten and explore the sampling strategies that are widely incorporated in research studies. The paper will analyze the available alternatives and choose the best sampling strategy for the subject area prescribed for the study. In addition, the paper will formulate sampling plan in which research population and sample of research will be identified along with the justification of sample size.

Proficient and Effective Methods in the Prevention of Adolescent Maltreatment in Parenting and the Avoidance of Suicidal Tendencies in Children

Overview

In order to conduct an effective research efficient sampling strategy formulation possesses crucial significance. In order to increase the authenticity of the information to be obtained, effective sampling strategy is formulated. In order to obtain incorporate effective sampling strategy, the margin of error should be minimized. Effective sampling strategy depends upon vigilant selection of population, proper sampling technique and the sample size drawn from population (Nachmias, 2008, 56-63).

Considerations for Best Sampling Strategy for Quantitative Research Plan

There are two main categories of sampling strategies that have been identified. These strategies allow researchers to select the sampling technique which is can best serve the interest of the researcher and suits the nature of the research. Selection of proper sampling strategy minimizes the standard of error in the data and provides authentic results. The sampling strategies can be defined as probabilistic sampling and non-probabilistic sampling.

In the process of probabilistic sampling the sample is randomly drawn from the population, in this type of sampling researcher cannot act biased and every entity comprising the population holds equal probability to be included in the sample. This sampling technique comprises simple random sampling, stratified random sampling, systematic sampling and cluster sampling. However, in contrast the other sampling procedure is known as non-probabilistic sampling, this procedure gives authority to research to select his sample size on the basis of his judgment. Non-probabilistic sampling includes quota sampling, convenience sampling and purposive sampling (Kendrick, 2004, 88-92).

Research Population

The core objective of this research is to enlighten Proficient and effective methods in the prevention of adolescent maltreatment in parenting and the avoidance of suicidal tendencies in children. Therefore, it can be asserted that the population for this research comprises the individuals subjected to maltreatment, parents of the victims and psychological therapists ...
