How It Is That the Identity of the Nation Is Expressed In the Architecture of the Government Buildings

Introduction

Architecture has become an important discourse for new expressions of post national identity in general and in particular for the emergence of a 'spatial' American identity. The architecture becomes significant when describing a culture or identity of a nation. Generally, we know Mexico for its government palace, its language and music, but this country also has to his credit a vast and rich history as far as architecture is concerned and government place at Mexico is one of the examples of the beautiful architecture (Gowans, 2004). The classical definitions of architecture hold that it is "the mother of all arts." Today, we would not define architecture as an art, but rather on technical terms or as the expression values of a given society. So-called architecture can also designate buildings as modest and temporary monumental buildings.

When we begin to consider how to express national identity in the nineteenth century, architecture is proving an effective tool: public art par excellence, it is deemed in the press at the time, welcome foreign visitors and offer the epitome of the country that produced it. Influenced by climate, built with materials from the ground where it was built, the architecture reflects also the degree of culture of its builders. Thus, the image of a nation is built along its architecture. How do we decide this picture? The answer depends on the country's place in the comity of nations. Thus, the representation of identity must be prestigious (to affirm its value), but also distinct (to show the specificity of the country it shows). When the prestige is lacking, the distinction overcomes this deficiency (Gelernter, 2001).

Concern to be deeper and more violent when men of the American claim, and achieve their political emancipation against coloniaje tax. The architecture of the Latin America is a series of successive transplants. The look has identified a personality. The architecture here has a lot of sense, since it must reflect the national identity. In this paper, we are going to focus on the Architecture of government building in Mexico. And we are also going to discuss how the architecture of government building represents the identity of a nation.

Postcolonial periods in Toluca, the state capital, there are buildings such as Portals, construction has more than 100 arches divided into three sections, the former headquarters of Literary and Scientific Institute, Dean's current offices of the Autonomous University State of Mexico, and the new and modern Plaza González Arratia.
