Are We Ready For Fully Inclusive Classrooms?

Introduction

There are schools that highlight its efforts to transform educational environments inclusive communities. The aim of these schools is to ensure that all students are equally accepted, recognized for what each has to offer the educational community and offer them curricular adaptations and necessary aids for their satisfactory learning.

Real significance of the inclusion

Inclusion means welcoming all (students and citizens) with open arms in schools and communities. Schools are a good place to start. Historically, fragment the system to ensure adequate support for everyone (special education, IQ test, classification). Over time, the system has become a support for segregation. The tragic long-term outcomes were not foreseen for the vast majority of children who were labeled, often with the best intentions. Reports, commissions and studies confirm that after segregating students assume that they live alone, rejected, friendless and jobless (Ferguson, pp. 173-179). The option for inclusion means the end of the labels, special education and special classes, but not the necessary support or services to be provided in integrated classrooms.

Towards Inclusive Classrooms

Many people now use the expression of full inclusion to refer to the education of all students in classes and schools close to home. It is adopting the concept of inclusion because it communicates more clearly and precisely what is needed. We must include all children in educational and social life of their schools and classrooms in their neighborhood and not just put in regular classes. The focus of inclusive schools is how to build a system that includes and is structured to meet the needs of each. These changes have led parents, educators and students to change their perspective. The problem or dilemma is no longer how to integrate previously excluded some students, but how to create a sense of community and mutual support in current society that promotes success for all members of the neighborhood schools. Classes in schools now stress the inclusive community building. It is difficult to define the community, however, is essential to have an idea of ??what it means to be encouraged in schools.

The transition to inclusive schools has several advantages.
