Water Resources have always been manipulated for different uses at different points of tome. Dams vastly help the agriculture sector. It has both positive and negative impacts on the whole economy and society. It on one hand is a source of economic growth, and food production, while it has also led to urban sprawl, loss of wildlife habitat, and destruction of river corridors.

Dams are one of the most important resources for a country. Countries having significant rainfalls require dams for the storage of water, which otherwise could turn into a flood and would be wasted. By preserving the water in Dams, a country can make use of its water resources for different purposes like Agricultural use, Electricity generation etc.

Dams help countries to regulate and control the flow of the river and rain water for centuries. Since ancient civilization, dams were constructed made of earth, rocks, logs etc in order to redirect rivers for flood control and irrigation. In the 20th century, Dams were built for the multi- purpose including flood control, irrigation, recreation, navigation and hydroelectric generation (Jackson, 1988, pp. 320-350).

Although Dams provides a significant number of advantages, but construction of dams has some disadvantages too. It can alter natural and human environments, reduce stream flows, degrade water quality and can make an impact on migrating fish. These are some of the critical issues faced. Irrespective of these issues, almost every river of the world is accompanied by a Dam. When a country is receiving heavy rain falls, it is difficult to control the water flow, and it could create problems for the residents of people living nearby. It can destroy homes and property of the people. Moreover, Dams it is also a source of hydroelectricity which makes it of utmost importance.
