What did gallery owner Leo Castelli claim was the reason for perceived female discrimination in the arts?

Leo Castelli carried a great vision for arts and artists. In the 1980's there were very few women artists present and it was said that there is gender and color biasness in arts. He claimed that there was no particular discrimination against the woman artists as there were very few artist of that gender but discrimination is done against females by various artists using the medium of art. Castelli claimed that the perceptions of female discrimination are because some artists have introduced sexism in arts (Lucy, 1995).

The East Village artist, incorporated graffiti styles, gestural Abstract Expressionism brushwork and often included African American symbols or subjects.

Modern visual culture was developed, as there was a greater sense towards arts (Broude, et.al, 1994). The era of 1980s brought up relationship between cultures and politics using imagery for institutions and power.
