Artistic Media of Drawing

The media of drawing involves both the materials and the base on which the implication of the material is done. The materials that are applied to an object can be many different things but the object that is used for the application of the material is a stick type object with a point but not a brush. This object transfers the particles of material or media to the base. The point of the stick can be minute as well as it can be large. The medium that is applied on the base object include graphite, ink, fusains and pastel and various other things. The base or the objecton which these materials can be applied may include paper, wood, plaster, canvas and it can be anything that can accept the material or medium applied with the help of the point of the stick. Common drawing media are as follows (Greene, 2004):

Chalk

Watercolor

Charcoal soft or hard both

Pencil

Conte

Pen and Ink

Crayon

Pastel

Graphite (The usage of graphite may involves pencils which are large or small sticks as same as charcoal)
