Assassination Dr. Martin Luther King

Introduction

This paper is going to discuss and analyze the sociological perspective of the assassination the great Civil Rights Leader Dr. Luther martin king on 4th April, 1968. During 1950's and 1960's, America became a bewildered and a volatile region. Martin Luther King was possibly the most influential individual of the 1950's and 1960's. (Pepper 2008 : Pp. 97-113)As the pioneer of the modern municipal rights action, Dr, Martin Luther King is recognized as the symbol of harmony and peace around the world.

He was born in January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He belonged to a Baptist African American family. His name Martin Luther King was in the name of the famous and prominent religious Martin Luther. Dr. Martin Luther king from the very young age started to witness and experience the broad indifference in the society in which the nation was sinking. (Branch 2006 : pp. 766)The difference of the skin and color was not acceptable to him and the discrimination based on it was unavoidable. He himself was a victim of insults, discriminations, and teasing. After completing his schooling, he went to the More House College a higher education institute for Black people and achieved his graduation degree in sociology. After 3 years of his graduation he completed his master's degree in theology. In the year 1953 he got married with Coretta Scott and they had four children's together. In 1954 he was awarded a doctorate degree in philosophy from the Boston University.

Dr. Martin Luther king and the Civil Rights Movement

His first engagement for the African American rights was after the incident happened between a white man and Rosa Parks (also commonly identified as the first lady of civil rights) who refused to leave and proceed to the back seat of the bus. Dr. Martin Luther King joined some churches and organized a protest and a boycott against the discrimination between the black and white Americans in public transport facilities. (Carson 2001 : Pp.15-27)The protest lasted for over a year and the violence became a part of it as well. During this tenure the King's family was targeted and many more but it was worth it. Because finally, the government lifted the discriminatory rule and announced it as an illegal act. The success of the whole incident provided the basis of the greatest civil rights movement and revolution ever witnessed in the history of America and eventually, Dr .Martin Luther king became the leader of the black people.

In the year 1955 Dr Martin Luther King was recognized as the leader of the Montgomery bus incident. Later he started his long tenure as the representative and the spokes person of the non-violent protest in the civil rights movement. He was a Baptist minister and a moral leader for his people.
