ABSTRACT

In this paper, the researcher focuses to determine barriers in supporting people with Diabetes in Black and minority Ethnic group in UK: A Nursing Perspective. Diabetes has become in recent years an epidemic affecting more than 150 million people worldwide. In UK, Blacks and ethnic minority groups have higher rates of diabetes than the general population. Although there have been a number of projects to assess the care of diabetics among ethnic minority groups in the UK, little is known about the extent to which the needs of minority groups. The role of nursing in the treatment of diabetes and hypothyroidism is highly significant. Since the expert and specialist medical practitioners are not available all the time, nurse is the only staff member one could turn to in such situations. Furthermore, Health promotion from a conceptional point of view is identified by six primary orientations: physical functioning, mental health, social well-being, role functioning, general health perceptions, and symptoms in the Discussion and analysis section the researcher elaborates the role of a nurse in managing Blacks and Ethnic Minorities with Diabetes. In Analysis section the researcher highlights the barriers in supporting people with Diabetes in Black and minority Ethnic Group in UK. Furthermore, the researcher also highlighted the measures that are taken to overcome those barriers and to ensure equality in treating diabetes among people of all ethnicity and races.
