Behavior Modification

Discuss the behavior to be changed and write a target behavior definition

To change behavior is a 6-year-old girl named Arianna, who has a problem that she cannot make friends, because she is moving because of ADHD. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD or AD / HD or ADD) is a neurobehavioral developmental disorder. Its main feature is the "common concerns and the presence of ADHD, the behavior of each individual are rare,” the beginning of symptoms was seven years old. ADHD is the most common research and diagnosis, children's mental disorders, affecting approximately 3 to 5 per cent of children in schools for children 2 to 16 years by the global and diagnosis. This is a 30 to 50 individuals diagnosed in childhood continue into adulthood by the symptoms of chronic disease.

ADHD may be seen as one or more of continuous traits found in the total population of normal. A diagnosis of ADHD does not, however, imply a neurological disease. With ADHD is classified as oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder and antisocial disruptive behavior disorder.

ADHD has three subtypes:

the vast majority of hyperactivity, impulsivity

The majority of symptoms (six or more) are hyperactive, impulsive type.

Less than six symptoms of inattention are present, but the attention is not focused to some extent may still be present

Primarily inattentive

Most of the symptoms (six or more) in less than six categories inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsive symptoms are present, but the hyperactivity, impulsive may still exist to some extent.

Children with this subtype are unlikely to be put into action, or have difficulties with other children. They can sit quietly, but they do not attach importance to what they are doing. Therefore, the child may be neglected; parents and teachers may not notice the symptoms of ADHD.

Combined hyperactivity, impulsivity, and inattention

Six or more inattention and six or more symptoms of hyperactivity-impulsivity symptoms are present.

Most children with ADHD combined (Roman, et al., 2004).

Choose the best program of behavior modification for your target behavior. In your discussion, include the rationale for your selection and the underlying theory.

The type of behavior modification plan that is going to be used here is the effective rewards and consequences plan. The type of behavior rehabilitation programs will be used here is effective incentives and consequences of the plan. Award must be an effective incentive. To consolidate and strengthen their behavior such rewards are necessary. Children return of material, such as stickers, small food treat, or into the mark, or may eventually be used to "buy" toys small items points. Reward can be as in the back, extra time in the playground, social rewards or verbal praise pat. Negative behavior would result in negative consequences such as to get lost privileges, tokens, or points, or overtime loss consequences. The consequences of inappropriate behavior should be discouraged.
