Introduction

The House of Seven Gables is a book written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. This book can be described completely American, because the author has discussed every thing in the book in the context of American culture and American history. This book has been regarded as one of the best works of Nathaniel Hawthorne, who was also written many other high quality books. In this report, we will discuss the few qualities of the novel, which has made this novel uniquely American. (Gilmore1985)

Discussion

The American literature has always reflected the life, and the struggles that the people have faced during their life. The use of symbols is an articulate technique for any author to develop a well-developed work of art, and relate his work to the basic theme. Usually the stories are usually describing a tale themselves; but an author can use symbols to put across his message in a clever way. Nathaniel Hawthorne was a pioneer author, who made use of symbols as an essential part of the story. This thing is transparent in his work, The House of the Seven Gables, in which Hawthorne has used the symbols to relate the theme of the story to the culture and the history of America, and therefore, making this book uniquely American. The usage of symbols in this book has created an association of the story with the American Culture. In his work, Hawthorne has used the tool of symbolism to enhance the story that is being described to the reader with a deeper insight into the more complex aims in the story. (Williams 1999)

In a way, the strong businesspersons have earned millions of dollars by exploiting the natural resources of wilderness in the country. This complicated association of Americans with the nature has been discussed in the story, the house of seven Gables. (Magill 1989)

In book namely, The House of the Seven Gables, the author has demonstrated that humans and, the nature cannot be separated from each other, and the fact that the human beings are part of nature and are wrapped around by nature. The author has aimed at formal differentiation, and has employed an established form of formal discussion. He has adapted some idea from the aesthetic philosophy of the British, ...
