Bradykinesia

Slowness of mental processes in patients with Parkinson's disease and other disorders of the basal ganglia. This term was introduced to highlight the cognitive parallelism with bradykinesia, which consists in reducing the movement observed in these disorders. Bradyphrenia is a central feature of Parkinson's disease and is characterized by lack of interest, initiative, attention and concentration, fatigue and slow reactions. Therefore, bradyphrenia has similar characteristics to apathy (McGuire, 2006).
