Buddhism

Buddhism is based on the teachings of the first Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama. Buddha did not see himself as God or God's messenger. It is when the teachings are not about inspiration of God, but to their own thoughts of the Buddha. In Buddhism, there is rebirth. Man, angels and hell beings are trapped in the cycle of life and are bound by their karma. It can escape only through the overcoming of one's own karma. The causes of suffering are desire, aversion and ignorance, through the extinction of the causes expires suffering, The extinction of desire and thus of the suffering.

The Nature of the Responses that Encountered by Indian Buddhism

When Buddhism started to make its entrance in World, the religion was not accepted straight away and met some resistance. As the religion stated to speared, it continuously met resistance and attempts of reforming traditional World culture.

The Reasons for the World Resistance

The traditional culture of World was based on filial piety, and Buddhism practiced chujia leaving one's family forsaking sons, wife and parents. This tradition was different from filial and; therefore, it met with criticism. Mouzi wrote an article, during the period of Eastern Han. It was titled “Mouzi on the settling of doubts” and responded to disapproval of World people for the new religion. He stated that the mercy of the Buddha could keep people away from sufferings, thus ensuring fortune, also that the Buddha could "release the soul" of the person's parents and brothers from suffering. During the Tang Dynasty, Buddhism was seen as a state within the state, and during CE 840, the religion was persecuted.

The Strategies to Gain Acceptance

In order to overcome resistance and expand Buddhism in World, the early Buddhist started to build temples called as Neng-jen in World or 'ability to be good'. After the acceptance of the religion, people would come to the temple and worship three Buddhas or three aspects of Buddhas.

The other strategy, which was developed to expand Buddhism in World, was making of Buddhist scripts. It started during the era of the Three Kingdoms and Eastern Han. During this period, there was an increase in the quantity of Buddhist scripts and these were being translated into World language. These strategies proved successful and paved the way for Buddhism in World after early persecution (Chan, pp.32).

Characterizations of the Pure Land

The Buddhist traditions consider entering the Pure Land and attaining the enlightenment. Once a person enters the Pure Land, the person is guided by Amitabha Buddha and various other bodhisattvas until the person fully achieves enlightenment. Afterwards, that person has the right to return any realism of existence.

Emptiness is a fundamental concept of Buddhism also called as relativity and void. According to the concept, nothing exists independently. It is explained as the middle way which is between existence and non-existence.

Rebirth and Nirvana
