Introduction

Management knowledge has been seen in differing perspectives such as the ways in which management makes use of the information technology as resource such as in the wage-effort bargains. The organizations need to take into account the information technology for better understanding of their own procedural and routine as well as non-routine works.

Managers need to explicitly acknowledge the extremely useful role of information technology and build this into their practice. This is what is referred to by managerialism that has been described as a set of beliefs and practices, at the core of which burns the seldom-tested assumption that better management will prove an effective solvent for a wide range of economic and social ills.

Importance of information to organization

"Management information system is essential for creating competitive firms, managing global corporations, and providing useful products and services to customers." (Laudon, 2002,P1) It provides information figure of reports and displays to managers. For example, sales managers may use their computer workstations to get sales results of their products and to access weekly sales analysis reports, and then evaluate sales made by each salesperson. "Management information systems arose in the 1970s to focus on computer-based information systems aimed at managers." (Laudon, 2002, P15). Because of the growths of the Internet, globalisations of trade, and the rise of information economies, have to improve the role of information systems in business and management. And then it needs pays attention to organisation management information that issues raised by sociology, economics, environment and psychology. "An organization is a stable, formal social structure that takes resources from the environment and processes them to produce outputs." (Laudon, 2002, P87) This essay will be evaluating the contribution of Management Information System to Organisations. Like as What relationship between information and manager's job; computer network's importance for management information development; different types of management information systems to use differences and how it is impact and limitation of information systems.

The Business Organisation: Online banking system of CMB

The purpose of this section is to apply business information system in re-modifying the online banking system of CMB. Currently the online banking of CMB has many functions; yet these functions are segregated in various channels without an integrate system for them all. The online banking of CMB has many versions including personal online banking professional version, personal online banking public version, visa card online banking, online banking for stock and shares, online banking for funds, cell phone online banking, handful online banking and electronic business professional online banking. Each of these online banking versions requires a distinct set of passwords and user name, which is inconvenient for those who seeks all-in-one services in online banking system. Clients will like to have an online banking system in CMB that requires only one set of log in user name and password before they can do various transactions in the same account.
