Role of government in training, development and lifelong learning

One of the government roles in international business will be protecting jobs and industries from foreign competition. Trade flows can cause major structural shift in employment. Links between industries spread these effects throughout the economy. Such as low domestically produced product will affect the industry that linked to the firm. To protect from foreign competition government can use TARRIFFS AND QUOTAS. Tariffs protects domestic producers of a product because import tariffs raise the effective cost of an imported good, domestically produced goods can appear more attractive to buyers. Also by Quotas protect its domestic producers by placing a limit on the amount of goods allowed to enter the country. This helps domestic producers maintain their market shares and prices because competitive forces are restrained.

Training and development for developing work skills is essential for every economy and society, it helps the businesses to create successful individuals, and assist them to realise the inner potential. To, meet this target it is important to set a reform that can help in educating further and develops skills for sustainable growth. Training and skill development helps the country to utilise their workforce in the best possible way. It helps the employee to achieve the organizational and individual goals. Development of skill provides opportunity and expands the structure of human resource for a country. Many European countries have a different kind of institutes helping the employees for developing skills.

Development of skills helps the country to overcome the unemployment; it is a very challenging economic issue for any country. High un-employment rate weakens the economic growth of a country, and the negative trend of these two factors results in the Un-employment among Youth. According to World Bank report on the role of youth skills development in transition to work the un-employment, and slow growth are the leading factors which affect the job creation.( Arvil.V.A;. 2007, pp 5). In many developing country where the size of the youth population is increasing, results in the addition of pressure for creating jobs.

In developing countries, labour force youth is the substantial contributor rather than the industrialised countries. Historically the trend of training employee for the development of skill has been a private matter. Individuals use to have training at their workplaces; even many employees finance the activity of training by giving up some proportion of their wages. This structure changed after the industrial revolution. The blueprint for entry level work is changing now entry level person requires more skills to compete in the industrial market. Policymakers in European countries from all income levels are now giving all of their concern to the problems of youth un-employment. Due to Un-employed youth faces political, social and economical challenges.
